  2. Softstrokes III USER'S GUIDE
  3. ----------------------------
  4. All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how to use your computer 
  5. and the programs you have purchased for it.
  6.   
  7. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  8. ------------------
  9. Softstrokes III images require application(s) that are compatible with GIF and/or EPS 
  10. file formats.  The GIF images are saved as GIF files in Adobe Photoshop.  EPS images 
  11. are saved using Adobe Illustrator as version 1.1 compatible files.  Any other hardware 
  12. requirements will be based primarily on the applications you use and the type of final 
  13. output you plan to produce.

  15. For best results with EPS images, your printer should be PostScript compatible.

  17. USING THE ARTWORK ON THIS CD
  18. ----------------------------
  19. PAGE LAYOUT PROGRAMS:
  20. Open your page layout program.  Create a new document and PLACE the EPS 
  21. files as you would any other image. The following page layout programs are 
  22. compatible with the EPS format:
  23.  - Adobe PageMaker
  24.  - QuarkXPress
  25.  - Corel Publisher
  26.  
  27. DRAW PROGRAMS:
  28. Open your draw program, then use the OPEN or IMPORT command under the FILE menu.  
  29. When the dialog box appears choose the "Adobe Illustrator" option under "FILES OF 
  30. TYPE", then choose the file you wish to edit. The following draw programs are 
  31. compatible with the EPS file format:
  32.  - Adobe Illustrator (Open)
  33.  - Macromedia FreeHand (Open)
  34.  - Deneba Canvas (Open)
  35.  - CorelDRAW! (Import)
  36.  
  37. PAINT PROGRAMS:
  38. The GIF files can be manipulated like any other bitmap images in the following 
  39. programs.  However, EPS files will be converted to bitmap images. Upon opening 
  40. an EPS file, you will be prompted for the image size and dpi.  Make sure you choose 
  41. the correct size and dpi for your finished piece of artwork.
  42.  - Adobe Photoshop
  43.  - Corel PHOTO-PAINT

  45. If your application was not listed above, please refer to your manual for 
  46. compatibility.

  48. ULEAD BROWSER
  49. -------------  
  50. The Ulead Browser catalog contains thumbnails of all the images in this package. 
  51. Please read the README.TXT file in the ALBUM folder for more information about the 
  52. Ulead Browser.
